has been contracted a loan to equip the inmates with textile weaving skills
to enable them resettle in gainful ventures other than crime at the end of
their prison sentence. After repaying part of their loan they have entered
into default, and will be visited to find out about the situation. |
- Mr Cornelius has loaned to buy materials to enhance his tobacco business. He has repaid an amount and follow up will be made for the balance. - The Nandom Disable
Cooperative engaged in a loan to enhance their needlework / basketry / rope
work business. They have repaid part, and a follow up would be made soon. |

- Mr. Bede is a blind man who has the talents of composing beautiful songs in the native language. He needed an amount to enable him embark on the printing and release of such songs. He has paid of his loan in full and has applied for another. - Mr. Romulus is a cripple cobbler, weaver and dealer in rope and straw works. He was assisted to buy materials to engage in the above business. He has repaid all. - Mrs Laeticia is a young lady with 5 children in her sole care, and has been deserted by the husband. She needed support for textile weaving, and was assisted by the Fund. She has been able to repay most of the loan issued to her, and will be reminded to continue. - Ms Theresa is a lame seamstress. She was assisted to buy materials and tools. She will be visited to find out the reason of her repayment arrears. - Mrs Jacinta needed assistance to buy materials and tools to start textile weaving. Since she was assisted she has repaid only a small amount and will be visited to find out her situation. - Mrs Stella wanted to engage in shea butter extraction, pito brewing, cake frying and petty trading in the village. She has paid off most of a first loan and was extended a second which she is repaying. - Mr Rophinos is serving regularly on his second loan for buying materials to process tobacco for sale. - Master Oswel was extended a loan to buy pepper and soya bean seeds for cultivation. The young lad has paid off all and not applied for a new loan yet. - Mr Peter was given loans for his cola and tobacco business, which he is duly repaying. - Mr Julius was given a loan for his tailoring business. He has been unfortunate with the purchase of a second hand decorating machine. In an effort to rehabilitate it the one who sold it to him ran away with a part. Despite the problems, he is still positive about making a headway. He feels uncomfortable for his failure to make repayments and pleads that he should be given enough time to put things in order. - Mr Raymond is a fishmonger with loans for equipment. Debt service is poor and he will be visited to find out his problem. - Messrs Issac and Felix are
auto-mechanics, who have not made any repayment on their loan yet. They will
be visited. |

Would be contacted to ascertain their problem. - Mr Valentine used two loans to start a sewing business. He has repaid both. - Mr Elias is a 25-year-old cripple who has lost his mother and is now in the sole care of his aged father. Mr Elias has applied for a loan to revitalize his petty trading business, whose income and capital has been used to buy a new tricycle to facilitate his movement. He has repaid about half of his loan. [Note: Mr Elias has a certificate in the Basic Education Examinations but could not further his education because of financial constraints. He has great interest and is considered talented in electronics. Plans exist to bring him together with Mr Remigious -see below- who could train him. - Ms Constancia is a 28 year-old mother of 3 children, and a weaver. A recent loan enables to buy weaving equipment, tools, materials and a working capital. - Ms Augustina is a 22-year-old woman with one child. Recently an amount was issued to her to buy weaving equipment, tools and materials. - Ms Georgina is a 22-year-old woman engaged in textile hand weaving. A loan serves to buy materials. - Ms Jacinta is a 25-year-old widow with 2 children, who runs a loan to buy weaving equipment, tools, accessories and materials. - Mr Joe is 32-year old and engaged in carpentry business. He loaned to buy board for his business. - Mr Remigious is a 28-year-old holder of a diploma in Electricals/Electronics. Lack of start-up capital compels him to operate at a very small-scale. He applied for a start-up capital to enable him buy the needed tools, components and materials. Upon his request an amount on a larger loan application was advanced to him to obtain an electrical meter for his workshop. - By the end of the year2002 some eight new loan-applications were under consideration. |
