Procession in 1957
approaching the Church of Saint Anthony Abbot seen from La Licorne. Twenty years later this
tradition was abolished altogether. The role of the relic
vendors selling petty catering was taken over by the youth of Bokhoven until
also this practice came to an abrubt end after an heroic intervention by two policemen
in 1983. Reportedly they were tipped of the sacrilege by the local clergy. However, the pilgrimage on
Sundays in the month of September in honor of Saint Cornelius continues till
today. |
